The Tree of Life

It was a hot sunny day and Sione was very thirsty. He wanted his father to buy him something cold to drink. But his father refused to buy him anything so instead he macheted down a talo. Dad told Sione to take a sip out of the talo’s mouth. But Sione said “A talo has no mouth.” so dad told him a myth about talo.

Dad told Sione about a girl named Sina who met an eel named Tuna. The people in the island wanted to kill and eat Tuna, but Sina did not approve of that. She told Tuna to go but for some reason he did not want to go. Days went by and Tuna was turning old. Sina promised that she would bury his head. Once he finally died Sina buried his in the sand. The head started to grow a steam. Then finally it grew into a talo tree.

“Now put the straw through the mouth a take a sip.” said dad. Sione enjoyed every sip he took of the drink.
